If you are a motor head, you probably already know but in case you do not, BMW is planning to release a front wheel drive car in France during the Paris Motor Show in September. We know that most of you are probably wondering how true this rumor is.

Happily, Wagner BMW of Shrewsbury serving Shrewsbury , is here  to suss out the fact from the fiction.

Fact: BMW, to date, has never launched a front-wheel-wheel-drive (FWD) vehicle.

Fact: They might, according to Autocar, bring an AWD variant of the current 1 Series to market in 2014.

Operative  word and phrase: might and according to.

In all reality, BMW has neither denied or confirmed any of the rumors of the front wheel drive car and we do not know if we will be seeing it hit showroom floors 2 years from now.

That said, all of it - including reports that the new FWD model will be coined the "BMW 1 Series GT" - could very well be fiction.

How's that for ambiguous?

Apologies. But, that's just the way things stand right now. As least you know for sure that none of it is etched in stone.
