We can all take settle back now knowing that the extended wheelbase 3 Series will only be available in China. A little while back BMW launched an extended wheelbase 5 Series to the Chinese market and it was a home run. And because of the success of the extended 5 Series, BMW plans to release the longer wheelbase 3 Series for the BMW lovers of China.

With another 4.33 inches between front and rear wheels, the stretched BMW 3 Series vehicles are coined 335Li, 328Li and 320 Li.

True, the added length might sound humble - maybe even nearly indistinguishable. Like many things it's more impressive in person than on paper. To accurately represent the significance of the change during the models' debut at the Beijing International Auto Show, BMW also put the traditional 3 Series and forthcoming  ActiveHybrid 3 on stage? The ActiveHybrid 3, in case you don't know, is expected to join the BMW 3 Series lineup in the U.S. this fall.

The stretch version of the 3 Series for China is just the tip of the iceberg for what we would expect to be more. When compared to Europe and the United States, the developing market in China shows great opportunity. In order for BMW to get their share of the pie they will have to become more creative as the time passes.
