Meet Sara Uppstrom...

She'll Have You at "Hello"?

Sara Uppstrom estimates that she greets 50 people each day in her role at the BMW Service Department. Partially due to her close proximity to the Service Drive-up door, but mostly due to her impressive commitment to provide stellar customer service, she is often the first face you will see when you walk in the store. And, she (almost) always has a smile on her face.

Five Star review from Dealerrater.com

Everyone at Wagner were very friendly. From the very first time I met with the sales force right through all of the following transactions. I never felt pressured and felt like they treated me fairly through our transaction. I am also quite impressed with the follow up after the sale.

LOOKING BACK AT THE NEW AND NEWSWORTHY OF 2011

2011 was filled with news. There were new models, new plants - even a new division. Not to mention new technologies and partnerships. Here are some highlights:

Models:

  • BMW introduces the all-new 6 Series Convertible and Coupe with available xDrive all-wheel drive, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe and the ActiveE all-electric vehicle.
  • The debut of BMW i Born Electric. This all-new vehicle division will produce the electric i3 and i8.
Partnerships:
  • As part of its partnership with the U.S. Olympic Team, BMW forms the BMW Performance Team, assisting 11 Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls.
  • BMW Guggenheim Lab kicks off in New York City, encouraging a global dialog on enhancing urban life.
Manufacturing plants:
  • The expanded Spartanburg, SC, manufacturing plant opens, making all X3, X5 and X6 models for the world.
  • BMW/SGL Group opens a carbon-fiber manufacturing plant in Washington State. This ultra-lightweight - and very expensive - material is produced in large quantities for use in the upcoming BMW i3 and i8.

Six Things We Learned at BMW M

Filed under:

We recently sat down with Albert Biermann, Head of Product Development for BMW at the German automaker's high performance M division, to get a taste of what's going on behind the scenes. We had a lot of questions, and Biermann did his best to answer them without giving his PR minders heart palpitations.

What did we learn? Plenty. But here are the highlights: The M wagon is dead, all-wheel drive won't be coming to the current M5, the M6 is due to hit in the summer, and offering a manual transmission on BMW's twin-turbocharged sports sedan is a massive headache thanks to us pesky Americans.

Hands on with the Active E by Marc Huaman

Hi Everyone -
So I've had my first drive in the Active E = Wow!

Now some of you might say "Ah, he's a BMW person" and of course you would be right.  For a moment though let's consider a few items that seem to be getting lost in the discussion on electric vehicles.

First and foremost an electric car isn't for everybody.  I have read a number of articles on the Active?

BMW Gets Electrified, But Am I?

2012 BMW ActiveE

For over a year, I've been looking for a way to get into an electric vehicle, but my options have been decidedly limited. I'm either lacking the funds (Tesla Roadster) or the alternatives have lacked character (Mitsubishi i, Focus Electric).

But now there's this: The 2012 BMW ActiveE. It's the next step for BMW in electrification - a bridge between the Mini E and the forthcoming i3 - that takes a standard 1 Series Coupe and adds a brace of batteries and electric motor to create a rear-wheel-drive sports coupe with a 100-mile range. Even better, the price is right.

Unlike the Mini E that required owners to plunk down a hefty chunk of change each month, the ActiveE's outlay is far more palatable: $2,250 down and $499 a month for a 24-month lease - well below what you'd drop on a new (or even used) gas-powered 1 Series.

Now I'm the first to admit to being an early-adopting sucker, but could it be worth my hard-earned Blogger Bucks to become a beta tester for BMW's electrification efforts? I flew 5,800 miles to Munich to find out.
